"Dark Dahlia (Pake)" Printed to order and shipped unframed in rigid mailing tube. Edition of 25. Ink Jet printed on high quality Hahnemuehle archival art paper with a half inch, white border.
Pake (PAH-kuh) is the word for grandfather in Frisian, the province in the Netherlands where my parents were born. This piece is a tribute to my maternal grandfather. The pewter and silver pieces were brought over from Holland when my grandparents immigrated to Canada in the 1950s and passed down to me. The little pocket knife is one that my grandfather kept in his pocket. I remember him in the garden using the knife to snip green beans off the plants or sitting under the apple tree peeling an apple he picked off the ground. I treasure these fragile reminders of a previous generation.
