The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Poster 2026
For over a century the Royal has been bringing the country to the city. Every year they commission a local artist to design the poster I was honoured to be asked to make the art for 2026.
In January I was invited to the Royal offices to collaborate on this year's poster and to share ideas. The Royal Team, Shaelyn Miller and Katie Brown, were able to look at my art and see that as an direction for the poster. Shaelyn said “Historically, our commissioned Royal posters have always been traditional paintings, and your style feels like the perfect evolution for what comes next. Your work captures everything The Royal stands for and demonstrates a deep pride in Canada’s agricultural community. The possibility of being able to highlight the everyday elements of farm life and present them through such a beautiful lens to the city of Toronto is genuinely exciting.”
My objective was create the poster using my methods of borrowing, finding, sourcing and collecting objects related to the Fair and make an arrangement that will result in a digital file. The items in the arrangement represent the 4 pillars of the Fair: Equine, Agriculture (livestock + crops), Food, and Education.
Using the natural light of my studio (as with all of my projects) I arranged and photographed this composition in one day in August, 2026
The flower arrangement comprises sunflowers, zinnias, lisianthus, cosmos, scabiosa, celosia, and dahlias field-grown in Hamilton by La Primavera Farms.
